…or Preparing for the Digital Apocolypse
Many years ago, I began thinking about what daily life would look like without access to the Internet. I grew up in the ’80s and ’90s so I don’t mean what things would be like if the Internet had never existed. What would it be like if the Internet suddenly went away today?
It is a thought experiment and purely academic, so I don’t really spend much time speculating on what exactly happened to the Internet… Maybe total societal breakdown, world war, actual pandemic… Or maybe it is a personal disconnection from the Internet, intentional or otherwise. Moved into the sticks, started a cult, whatever.
How many of the comforts of digital entertainment, education and communication can we still enjoy without access to the Internet at large and, presumably, with limited electricity? I suppose it depends on how well prepared you are.
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this and experimenting and I intend to finally start sharing what I’ve learned on this blog. Enjoy.
